Project Overview
This 330-unit modular building project supported the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in the Yanqing competition zone. The buildings provided temporary office, accommodation and operational support space at the Xiaohaituo Mountain venue.
The mountain location combined low temperatures, strong winds and restricted site conditions. The building system therefore needed to balance rapid modular assembly with winter insulation, airtight connections and practical circulation between occupied spaces.
Cold-Climate Configuration
The verified project brief records winter temperatures down to approximately −30°C and winds up to force 12. The wall system used 100 mm high-density rock wool insulation, sealed module joints and connections designed to reduce thermal bridging. A double-layer insulated roof strengthened the overall thermal envelope.
The completed buildings combined multi-storey exterior walkways, enclosed internal circulation and functional rooms for staff use. The project photographs also document heating equipment and an accessible washroom configuration.

Project Solution
A cold-climate modular configuration combined 100 mm rock wool wall insulation, sealed module joints, reduced thermal bridging and a double-layer insulated roof. Multi-storey circulation and interior support spaces were planned around the mountain venue conditions.
Delivery & Result
The installed modular complex provided organized office, accommodation and support areas within the Yanqing competition zone. Exterior and interior photographs document the completed building groups, circulation spaces and accessible facilities.
